We are at war
When you have a new member in the household, the rules and dynamics change. When you have the protective maternal instincts and "gung-ho" daddy love in the same household, you have war.
Don't wake a sleeping baby.
Let him cry.
He can hold on to Abby's (the dog) biscuits. [!!??] - ..when he is a teething baby and puts everything in his mouth..NO!
Turn down the volume.
etcetcetc..
And when Mommy me spends 24 hours with Lucas and knows what that squeal is about, what routine means, it is difficult to stay away or keep quiet. We want Lucas to spend as much time with Daddy when he is home, but just don't let me see what happens..or I will jump to 'rescue' Lucas.
It is true. A mother's love can be overwhelming. I never knew I could have so much love to give and how my heart can ache if he just but has a slight bump.
Well, of course...I spent 9 months carrying him, 12 hours of labour pains, 4 hours of excruciating pain trying to get him out, and now spending all of my waking hours with him, and him feeding off me for a quarter of that time...well of course I love him, he is a part of me. I love me.

I am not sharing
After lunch, we had ice-cream @ Newport.
Me: Do you want ice-cream?
Edwin: Yes, Pistachio.
Edwin sat outside with Lucas while I went in to get the ice-cream. I came out with one cone with 2 scoops of ice-cream..one scoop pistachio and one scoop of my choice, white chocolate blueberry cheesecake.
Me: Let's share. I got 2 scoops.
Edwin: (stares at me like he is going to eat me) I am not sharing. You eat it yourself.
Me: But I got you pistachio..here you can have it first.
Edwin: But you already licked it.
I learnt something new today. Edwin does not share ice-cream. 14 years and I never knew this.

We love poop
Maybe it is because he has discovered his abs and is able to sit on his own now. Maybe it is the new realm of vision and perspective from siting up.
Maybe it is the result of eating cereal.
Or maybe....it is this...
Poop up the back.
After 4 days of empty diapers, we are relieved to see poop. Finally.
I am sure Lucas was equally relieved.

Happy Mother's Day to me
My first Mother's Day. It was like any other ordinary day for me. I don't remember this day bearing much significance for me for a long time now. Back in those days when my mom was still around, I do remember the heart-shaped cream cake from Four Leaves which we will always get for her from the local supermarket. We (Dad, sis & me) would then make breakfast of toast, sausages and eggs. There would always be the hand-made card too. I look forward to the day Lucas will make little hand crafts for me and scribbles of love messages. I can see myself keeping all his little crafts and occasionally taking them out to reminisce and get all sentimental. Yes I do, I would probably also cry my hearts out. It's good therapy just like the vacuuming the floor.
We had Japanese lunch yesterday & Lucas was very cooperative and slept through most of it. In the evening, Edwin made chicken rice for me. That was probably the highlight of my day. It was really good. Yum.

I eat soap
No, I am not trying to kill myself. But I did put a smear of facial foam on my toothbrush and brushed my teeth with it this morning. Yes, you heard right. I did. It actually took me at least 30 seconds before I realised something was wrong.
I thought it tasted funny..the tube does say yoghurt extract, but it is DEFINITELY inedible.
20 more days to my vacation...

Brain freeze
I am experiencing a brain freeze. No, my mind has not gone mushy from motherhood. Just too much going on I don't know where to begin, what to blog.
1. It has been a busy week in the work-front, but will settle down by this weekend. So busy that Lucas had to go to work with me, travelling in the car.
2. We have been contemplating starting solids for Lucas and did attempt to test his tastebuds. I am going through maternal paranoia and wondering if Lucas has enough nutrition from milk alone.
3. I went on a crazy spree to get Lucas more entertainment @ home (read: free time, hands-free for me)
4. Household debate over furnishing/re-decorating the house. The makeover/renovation intended when we bought this house is stalled as our one and only contractor Mr Edwin is fully booked/overbooked with other projects!
5. 4 babies in the house - Abby had a sleepover last week. Neighbour's pooch, Abby's best pal, Jersey was here for a couple of days. They had a great PJ party less the PJs.
6. I have been so excited with the sunshine we have been getting and heading out so often I am bushed.
7. Foot massager...i am still wondering if it is working wonders for my feet or my brains..
p.s. E. dearie, thanks for the email! I LOVE the photo!! You guys look GREAT together. And the hair my gosh, I LOVE the hair. Let me recover some of my brain cells will write soon :)

Is it?
The super curious grabber has emerged.
I am feeling tired these days..and all I want to do is lie down and sleep.
Is it because Lucas has become more active? Is it because I have become too lazy to brew soups for myself? Is it because Mother's day is around the corner and I am busy with work? Is it because we just bought a foot massager and the promised improved blood circulation has outdone itself on me? Is it because I now have 4 babies in the house? Is it because I am in desperate need of a full body massage? Is it because I am eating too much junk? I think so..

Muffins, Smoothies & Babies
We had a muffin+smoothies+baby party @ Carolyn's today. When you have a 4-5month-old baby, you have to learn to eat with one hand and eat fast. It was great to watch the babies play together, grasping each other's faces and taking a fancy to someone else's toys. Lucas' shoes were a big hit with the babies. Makayla was trying to grab them off his feet here..
Lucas had a blast with jack's jolly jumper today..looks like I have to get him one soon!
Photos: Sandwiched between Mya & Makayla, playing with Blake & finally knocked out..

Owwwch! Who is the baby?
Couple of new things Lucas is into these days..
1. He still enjoys putting his fingers, sometimes fist into his mouth. It seems he likes his index and middle fingers best, and both at the same time too.
2. He has discovered his feet and is reaching out for them...I am waiting to see his foot in his mouth one of these days..
3. He stretches his arms out to tell me he wants up..from his bed.
4. Pinching grasp..owwwch! My hair!
5. He likes playing with my face these days and pinching my cheeks! Who is the baby here!?
6. On the rolling front, he is almost done with flipping back to tummy. Just that inch to go, and he swings back to his back. But it is amazing how far he can scoot just by lying on his back...moving 360d round his crib, and scooting away from his playmat..
7. Attitude..Lucas is getting an attitude these days..he knows how to make himself heard when he wants to..and in a very earnest manner too. What happened to my quiet sleeping baby!
psst...Jane dear! thanks for the call last night! Sorry I was so sotong, it was midnight my dear, what did I say? are you hungry? milk? good boy?
