Sundays are My Days

This is what happens when Daddy dresses baby. What IS that on his head?

I love Sundays. There is an extra pair of hands in the house. This means taking an extra-long bath, catching up on reading, work and emails without guilt or worrying about a crying banshee.

We went out for an early breakfast. Ed's fave Chinese BF place has closed and we headed to our next regular hangout - COPA. After BF, we headed across to the Mall. We came across a section selling children's books and I went berserk.

When should Lucas start on his ABCs or 123s? Never mind, I will just read to him for now. I felt the sudden urge and need to stimulate my little bubba and educate myself. Would he be too bored with my limited knowledge of nursery rhymes. I hardly remember any children songs. Even the famous twinkle star song had me thinking.

I have never bought so many books at one time in my life. We had a 'not so happy' camper at the cash register (guess who).

Abby had her fair share of fun in the afternoon. It looked great with the sunshine, but it was still freaking cold. 30 minutes was all we could give Abby at the park. She met her friend Lucky aka Ah Heng the frisky miniature poodle.

I dread the fever

This post is dedicated to me, moi, watashi.
I have just recovered (hmm..maybe not..am still feeling the chills and aches) from yet another bout of the dreaded fever which I thought was brought about by yet another infection.

Fever gets me down. I feel like my whole body is taken over, and all I can do is lay down. What is the worse thing that can happen? We don't have tylenol or any other painkillers at home! I did have Panadol. That didnt work.

I don't remember ever falling ill this frequent.

My poor lil bubba was so active and all I could do was stare at him, and hope he will fall back to sleep.

Am I coherent?

Chubby chubs chubs

Double-chin & folds. This is Lucas before his bath time today.
I play with Lucas before his bath-time. I especially like it when he is only in his diapers. I have a good time squeezing his chubs.

Bare those tiny hands!

We haven't had the courage to cut Lucas' nails or even cut his hair since his birth. Those fingers and toes are so tiny and fragile-looking! Daddy finally did cut Lucas' nails last week. We can finally take off those mittens and Daddy & Mommy can play with his little hands!

I missed the strollersize this morning at the mall. Lucas was and is still fast asleep and I have been zipping around the house, cleaning, preparing food, did the invoices for delivery tomorrow, had my cereal, and finally taking a breather now. Guess I had my share of exercise for today!

Lucas' best friend

The pacifier. Works wonders. Don't leave home without it.

It's freezing but it doesn't bother Abby

Abby loves the snow. She will spend hours 'hopping' in and out of the deep accumulation, looking for a ball left behind by some other pooch, or a chewable branch, bark or the alike. She is just a super happy dog. Period.

It has been a really cold winter. Much unlike the winters I am used to here in B.C. The winter that greeted me when I first arrived here in B.C. four years ago was an incredible average of 10D.C. with sunshine for the most part.

We have had 2 heavy snowfall this winter, and the wind storm...geez. But it is heaven up in Whistler where they have had record amount of snow, which means excellent ski conditions. Don't know when we will be able to head up to the slopes again now that we have our little bundle.

Will white be your favourite color?

White is my favourite color. Clean, pure, simple.
Lucas' wardrobe has also been influenced by my love for white.

I think he looks great in white. Before he grows old enough to protest, whites it will be.

Lucas' One-Month-Old Party

We had over 40 people over today for Lucas' first party. He had a great time being the centre of attention. Mommy is bushed...more updates later...

Red Egg & Ginger

My attempt to make red eggs. In the Chinese culture, a baby's first month is celebrated with a "Red Egg & Ginger Party". I have no idea what the Ginger symbolises, but traditionally, parents hand out red-dyed eggs to family, relatives and friends, symbolising happiness & renewal of life.

Apparently, it is also during these parties that the mother is "re-introduced" to the world!

I just found out too that an even number of eggs are given out for boys and an odd number for girls!

Happy One-Month Old!

Happy One-Month, Lucas baby! We didn't do anything special today cos Daddy had to work and Mommy *horrors* is down with a recurrent infection. But we will be meeting Lucas' Aunties&Uncles from the airport office on Friday for lunch *yipee* and we have a little party planned as well for Saturday.

Check out that hair!

Thank you Cousin Ryan for the super funny e-card!

Baby days

My posts these days seem to be all about Lucas. It's true. Our days are orchestrated by baby Lucas. We do almost nothing else these days other than meeting to his needs and spending time discovering him. It has been an amazing experience. Being a parent, and watching him grow.
Some years down the road, the sleepless nights will all become a blur. Some years down the road, I may yearn to play with his tiny feet and listen to his cooing once again. For now, I am treasuring every moment.
Lucas turned 4 weeks on Saturday. He is still the cutest baby ever. It seems he is slowly going into a pattern of feed & sleep (*fingers crossed*). But night feeds are still a struggle. He is in love with his pacifier. There are different perspectives on the introduction of the pacifier to babies and breastfeeding nazis will warn you against the use of pacifier for fear of nipple confusion. But it has worked wonders for us.
We have also started going outdoors more often with Lucas, slowly stretching the 15minutes of stroll to an hour, to a couple of hours of stroll+shop+lunch.
Our prenatal class mommies are coming together for the strollersize (walking around the mall with your stroller) at COQ mall tomorrow! Time to work off some excess baggage.

Father & Son

Daddy is Lucas' playmate. Mommy is not in the picture cos Mommy is too busy producing his milk supply haha.

Blue bunny

This is for Cousin Ryan. Remember this bunny jacket?

Our daughter, Abby

Abby has been an absolute darling with Lucas & with the whole new addition adjustment period. She seems to know exactly what is going on. She gets excited when Lucas cry and goes right towards him, sniffing and wagging her tail. She probably wishes to "mother" him. She is such a dear.
Time is definitely divided and probably more around Lucas now with his high needs. But on nice days, we go on a family stroll in the park, and spend some time with our daugther, Abby.

"I am serious about my milk"

I want milk look

There is a seriousness about Lucas's look these days. Actually since he was born. A pensive, "i am deep in thought" look.
Some say it is from his Mommy. What can he be so deep in thought about these days? Milk?

Hello 2007

Wow. 2006 is over? In retrospect, it has been a significant year for me. A year I spent 9 months growing a fetus inside me. A year I was finally convinced to move into an older home, in dire need for re-modeling. And most memorable of all, 2006 is the year Baby Lucas came into this world and changed our lives.

New year resolution? I don't think I ever remembered what my new year resolution was at the end of the year to realise if I fulfilled my goals. But for 2007, I know what I want. I want to enjoy parenthood. I want..no, I need to get back into shape. I cannot remember when was the last time I took those laps in the pool, or worked out some perspiration. Ever since my tummy started growing, it became a good excuse to stay away from any vigorous activity. Pathetic, I know. I admire those ladies who work out at the gym even with their growing belly, who head to the pool totally proud of their fuller-than-normal figure.

We were at a friend's place for the New Year countdown and as usual, Lucas was the centre of attention, passed along like a puppy in a petting zoo. haha. The kids adore him, and he was totally obliging and enjoying every moment of it.
Happy 2007 to everyone!
